SAPAS La Piedad – Water supply
The portable Water, Sewerage and Sanitation System of La Piedad (SAPAS), is a decentralized public body that has its own legal personalities and assets. It is managed by a governing board, usually being lead by Mayor in turn as well as by a commissioner. The main aim of the agency is to supply, maintain and expand the drinking water and sanitary drainage service to the population.
It has tools and technological equipment with which the water quality is permanently monitored, the proper functioning and evaluation of the water conduction and distribution lines, the purpose of recovering the water lost due to visible leaks, and thus improve the water service.

Task: SAPAS La Piedad – Water supply
SAPAS La Piedad monitors the pressure levels in wells and tanks, controls the extraction and distribution of water from a central unit, supervises and gives attention to failures in the equipment and the network.
There are seven subdivisions and neighborhoods that manage their Drinking Water service in a particular way. The SAPAS La Piedad operates 19 deep wells for the municipal seat and 4 in communities. They are deep wells equipped with centrifugal pumps driven by motors fed with electrical energy.
There are five types of tanks with different capacities; circular, spherical, rectangular, square and trapezoidal section. It has dosing pumps for handling sodium hypochlorite and chlorine gas equipment equipped with pressure aid pumps, thus chlorinating 100% of the extracted water.
