La Piedad has a public-urban Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) run by SAPAS. Wastewater treatment coverage in La Piedad is 98%, which includes the areas served by SAPAS and those of the independent Committees, as well as some neighborhoods and suburbs. Its process is of the secondary type through stabilization ponds with aeration in facultative ponds and with a capacity of 200 liters per second (lps).

This Wastewater Treatment Plant is located in Ejido Potrerrillos. The wastewater arrives through the sanitary drainage, through a 7.7 kilometer long marginal collector. In addition, there are other treatment plant in the municipal slaughterhouse, the communities of Los Guajes, Tanque de Peña and Ojo de Agua.
