UNIVA Guadalajara University
UNIVA (Universidad del Valle de Atemajac) Guadalajara University is in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico. The history of the Universidad del Valle de Atemajac begins in 1962, when the first school of journalism was opened in Guadalajara, under the name of Instituto Pío XII, founded by Monsignor Dr. Santiago Méndez Bravo, Founding Rector. In 1977 it received Official Recognition of the studies as the Higher Institute of the Atemajac Valley.
In 2005, in accordance with the norms of the apostolic constitution Ex corde ecclesiae, of Pope John Paul II, and with canon law, UNIVA was established as a Catholic University. UNIVA’s mission is to influence social transformation from the Catholic worldview and train people of integrity in human, scientific, technological, and professional terms.

UNIVA has held the National Accreditation of Excellence, granted by the National Association of Private Universities and Higher Education Institutions (FIMPES). And is one of the 38 Mexican Universities holding the maximum accreditation for a private institution in the country.
